Overseas & Local Projects
A number of our previous student executives have formed a voluntary group "Mission Until Dawn" since 2016 after they had ended their terms of service at their respective University YMCAs. They cared about the play rights and holistic development of the children in developing countries through organising "Playground Builder" service trips to build playgrounds in those countries. The group has received awards and media coverage to acknowledge their good work. For details, please CLICK HERE.
Our department continues to recruit passionate tertiary students to join the projects and show their care to the children in need around the world. Locally-oriented "Handmade Playground" projects have been launched in recent years to promote children's play rights and whole-person development in Hong Kong.
Overseas Service Trips
Playground Builder
Has empowered over 120 tertiary and high-school volunteers to build 7 therapeutic playgrounds, carry out community services and have cultural exchanges in the Philippines, Cambodia, Mongolia and Thailand...etc.

Handmade Playground
The "Handmade Playground" Project was started in 2018, aiming at addressing the problem of "lack of play" and internet addiction among children in Hong Kong by upcycling different eco-friendly materials into therapeutic playground facilities. During the pandemic, online programmes have been carried out to achieve "suspending classes without suspending learning".
