Are you ready for an exciting opportunity to explore the Minnan culture（閩南文化）and the Gulangyu's colonial architecture of Xiamen? Join us for the “Discover Xiamen” Cultural Exchange & Service Trip in late March, where you will experience meaningful cultural interactions, engage in community service, and forge lasting friendships among local and non-local peers!

Over a weekend, you'll immerse yourself in the rich heritage of Xiamen while making a positive impact on local communities. You will have the chance to engage in cultural exchanges with local youths, participate in hands-on community service activities, and learn about the historical and contemporary significance of the region by visiting various notable sites. 

Eligibility 

Full-time local and non-local students aged 18-29 with valid University YMCA membership

Trip to Xiamen
 

  • Tentative assembly time: 13:00, 27 March 2026

Programme Contents (May Subject to change based on the actual situation.)   

  • Community Services: Engage in Children and Elderly’s Services in Xiamen Community

  • Intangible Cultural Heritage Activities: Experience traditional Chinese culture. 

  • City Exploration: Visit Xiamen's iconic sites. 

  • City Hunt in Xiamen: Build relationships with local youths through an engaging City Hunt in Xiamen. 

Programme Fee (Upon successful admission to the programme)

$1,100 + Deposit $500

  • The programme fee includes high-speed rail tickets, meals, accommodation, local transportation, and programme activities with YMCA subsidy, excluding Visa fee (if applicable). 

  • The deposit is refundable upon full attendance of all pre-trip meetings and the trip with satisfactory performance throughout the programme.  

  • University & College YMCA Department of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong reserves the right of final decision for any disputes. 

Important Notes to Non-local Participants - About Chinese VISA 

  • If you need the Chinese VISA, please find the Chinese VISA - Step by Step Guide: (https://shorturl.at/0oflV) for reference and download the information if necessary. For Major Purpose of Visit, please choose "(L) Tourism" 

  • Kindly apply for the VISA as soon as possible upon successful admission to the programme. 

  • Participants are responsible for managing their own visa applications and covering the associated visa fees. In the event that a visa application is unsuccessful, we regret to inform you that the programme fee will not be refundable. Thank you for your understanding.
