Are you looking for a trip which enables you to serve the local community and immerse yourself in the vibrant overseas culture at the same time? If yes, University & College YMCA is offering you a good option – Joint-U Germany Service & Cultural Tour 2025!

 

Not only will you be able to volunteer and share Chinese culture with locals at the Sino-German Summer Academy at the medieval castle Wernfels of the YMCA Bavaria, but you can also help in the local YMCA works in Nuremberg and meet new friends.

Eligibility
Full-time students aged 18-25 with valid University & College YMCA membership^

Programme Timeline (Please reserve all the stated dates below.)

• Informing short-listed candidates for interview: by 16 April (Wed)

• Interview^: 17 April or 22 April (Thu or Tue) Afternoon or Night @ Mong Kok

• Releasing interview results: by 23 April (Wed)

• Preparation meetings: 28 April, 2 June/10 June, 24 June, 9 July - Ice-breaking sessions, Preparing for workshops and services in Germany, Rehearsals for performances, etc.

• Pre-departure meeting: 23 July (Wed)

• Trip to Germany: 27 July - 9 August (tentative)

• 1st Post-trip meeting: 20 August (other meetings to be discussed in the first preparation meeting)

• Post-trip Activity: before October 2025

^ONLY shortlisted candidates will be invited for attending the interview.

Programme Content

• 27 July - 2 August: YMCA Local Works,  Cultural Activities, City Exploration (Nuremberg, Bavaria) 
  Participants will volunteer in the local works of YMCA Bavaria and engage in a variety of cultural activities., as well as exploring the uniqueness and beauty of Nuremberg.

• 3-9 August: Sino-German-Ukrainian Summer Academy (Wernfels, Bavaria)
  Joining the "Sino-German-Ukrainian Summer Academy" at the medieval castle Wernfels of the YMCA Bavaria to have cultural activities for learning German and Chinese and to explore the castle and its surroundings.
   

Programme Fee
$17,500# + Deposit $1,000*
- Programme fee includes flight tickets, accommodation, partial meals, transportation, and programme activities with YMCA subsidy

 

*Refundable deposit upon 80% attendance of all activities (including completion of the trip and the post-trip activity) with satisfactory performance throughout the programme; and completion of the requirements of the "YMCA Global Citizenship Award Scheme" Gold Award. University & College YMCA Department of Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong reserves the right of final decision for any disputes.

 

#Participant who receives the "YMCA Global Citizenship Award Scheme" Gold Award will be given $1,000 subsidy.
